MS cannot fix this problem by simply changing the memcmp function in a future kernel version. Thats not gonna help them. The weakness is that the byte-wise memcmp function is in the 1888 kernel/bootloader (and they cannot change that one anymore of course).

There is some other stuff they could do, but I'm pretty sure making a backup of your flash now (link) will allow people to downgrade at any time in the future no matter what they throw at us.

Of course a new kernel version should still be checked for "the other things" they could do to prevent downgrading for those that do not have a backup of their fw yet...

quello che nn capisco , e cosa manca per eseguire un homebrew ? ... anche uno della x1 ,sotto emulazione magari , per provare

linux è un altra storia .. perchè li si prende il possesso completo della macchina
nn deve accedere alle librerie e alla dash ms , per poter funzionare

ma con questo exploit si dovrebbe gia avere anche il controllo della relativa dash

se ero piu bravo in inglese , domandavo direttamente ad arenzami

se segui la scena psp dall'inzio saprai quanto ci è voluto per arrivare a CF. La situazione è restata ferma per mesi prima di riuscire a far partire qualcosa che richiedeva un firm superiore (GTA), per poi arrivare ai cambi di prx. Cosa che non era ne semplice ne immediata, per poi arrivare al dev hook, che era una buona soluzione ma ancora leggermente macchinosa. Solo dopo molto tempo si è arrivati al 2.71CF.
E consideriamo che come exploit e bug la psp è uno scherzo in confrnoto alla 360 e considerando che in 2 anni su 360 sono riusciti a trovare un solo exploit per eseguire codice non autorizzato, temo che ci vorrà molto molto tempo
per vedere decenti homebrew e dash alternative.
