Sony Confirms PS4 CPU Clock Frequence, Its Runs At "8X1.6 GHz", 43 Times Powerful Than PS2
    By Sehran Shaikh

It seems like Sony has finally revealed the clock speed of Playstation 4's Jaguar CPU. As per the details revealed by Sony UK via their Google Plus page, Playstation 4 CPU speed is 43 times more than that of Playstation 2, and it runs at 8 x 1.6 GHz speed.

The text shared by Sony UK via Google Plus reads something like this: "The PS4, with a clock speed of 8 x 1.6 GHz (or 43X the PS2)" and "2 + 2 doesn't always = 4 ;)"

On technical front what that exactly mean we have no idea, all i can add is that it seems to be running at a base clock speed of 1.6 GHz on a a 2.75 Ghz capable chip.

And for comparison purpose, at launch Xbox One CPU was clocked at 1.6GHz, whereas GPU was clocked at 800MHz. Microsoft increased Xbox One CPU speed by 7% and now it clock speed is 1.75GHz.

NOTE: Before jumping into conclusion that Xbox One CPU speed is more than Xbox One, i advice readers to read a recent benchmark report Substance Engine.

A recent Substance Engine benchmark revealed that PS4 CPU is faster than Xbox One. For those who are unaware of Substance Engine is used to exceedingly decrease file size and provides unique graphics effects by making use of dynamic effects in real time.

Now According to details revealed in the benchmark, PS4 is actually running at 2Ghz in order to produce 14 MB/s of textures versus 12 MB/s textures for the Xbox One.

You can check out the benchmark report in the image below.
