Uscito Stamane presso il sito di Sony Japan il primo update ufficiale del Firmware per la PSP che di fatto si allinea con quello presente nelle PSP uscite oggi in USA. Eccovi le novità ed un breve tutorial preso da lik-sang.com

Sony of Japan today released the first official Firmware Update Version 1.5 for the Japanese PSP console. According to Sony, there are three ways to update your PSP to the latest version: Network Update, through the Memory Stick, and via UMD disc (the latest one probably through a retail outlet for the folks without wireless network and without a Memory Stick).

The easiest method is to simply use the Network Update function in your PSP menu. When you run the update via the PSP, it will first download the file to the Memory Stick (which requires 14MB free on the memory stick). After downloading it will present two options, update now or update later. If you select update later, you can run it from the "Memory Stick" option under the game menu.

For those who don't have wireless setup, you can download it here:

    • Sony Japan Direct (14MB)
    • Lik-Sang.com Mirror (13MB Zipped)

Once downloaded, simply create an UPDATE folder in your GAME folder on the Memory Stick, copy the update file into it, and run the program.

The update adds the following major features:

    • Support for German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Russian languages
    • Support to retain screen mode settings (For video stored on Memory Stick)
    • Support to allow resume play after recovery from sleep mode (For video stored on Memory Stick)
    • Support to allow resume play of audio tracks after recovery from sleep mode.

Please note that the update will not run if you have less than 50% remaining battery life and it is recommended to connect a power supply while running the update. All together it takes just a couple of minutes.

IMPORTANT: Follow the on screen instructions and do NOT disconnect the power or turn the PSP off. This will destroy (!! ) your PSP and Sony did not announce any way to recover a broken system yet. Normally you'd have to bring back your unit to their service center in Japan. Import Gamers be aware, update on your own risk!

Here are some photographs of the update in progress:
