"Cerny said, talking about the PS4's development. "With the PS4 we aimed for not just specs, but setting up an environment where games can be developed smoothly." According to Cerny, adapting games developed on a PC framework to the PS4 is a much easier process than with previous consoles. He recalls, "Relatively small titles took less than a month, and even big titles took only 2 to 3 months."

The short time it takes to adapt titles will hopefully lead to more games coming out sooner, which will help build up the PS4's library and cement its foundation – something that is usually a major stumbling block for new consoles. According to Cerny, the ease of development for the PS4 "probably shortened the development of Knack by an entire year."

Considering how pretty much every new console in recent memory has suffered from either a weak launch lineup and/or weak launch follow-up releases, this would be a welcome change to that pattern."

Frostbite 3 Supports DirectX 11.1 API – Faster GPU/CPU Performance on PCs and Xbox One

Now this is the interesting bit, DICE confirms that the Frostbite 3 engine supports DirectX 11.1 API as revealed by DSOGaming.
“We use DX11.1, there are some optimizations in it (constant buffer offsets, dynamic buffers as SRVs) that we got in to the the API that improves CPU performance in our rendering when one runs with DX11.1. This will be in BF4.”
This means that PC and Xbox One versions of Battlefield 4 would be more optimized than PlayStation 4. There’s also a hint at AMD’s Next “Never Settle Bundle” featuring Battlefield 4 as a free title which is a good deal for AMD users.

" "The main reason is that the LCD panel can now realize an image as high quality as that of the OLED panel." House also added that the LCD panel makes it easier to slim down the PS Vita."

Blitz Games Studios closes down after 23 years

Long-lived U.K. developer Blitz Games Studios announced it is ceasing trading after 23 years, in an official post on the studio's website.

The company, which houses a number of divisions including Yoostar 2 developer Blitz Games and Reservoir Dogs studio Volatile Games, was founded in 1980 by Andrew and Philip Oliver, known best for their work on the Dizzy series.

As a result, 175 jobs have been lost; however, Oxford-based studio Rebellion is in "close talks" with Blitz to hire some of the affected employees. Additionally, two of the studio's current projects are financially sustainable and will continue on in the formation of a new company that will allow 50 current staff members to continue working.

"We have managed to weather numerous storms over the last two decades that have sadly seen the demise of many of our friends and colleagues across the industry, but the run of problems we've had to face over the last year is unlike any we've seen before. Frustrations with clients, the global economic crisis, and more than our fair share of simple bad luck have all conspired against us and we are no longer able to continue trading," reads a statement from Philip Oliver.

"We have done all that we can to make Blitz a success, and we have come frustratingly close in recent months. Major clients have felt unable to commit to investment in significant projects, others have changed strategy whilst appearing committed, and others have been slow to commit at all - all of these things have continued to hurt our finances. We have also sustained the business for some time with our personal savings but even those reserves have now been exhausted."
