[TGS 07] Dual Shock 3: il mondo Playstation torna ufficialmente a tremare

Dopo la comparsata di ieri nello stand EA adibito a Burnout Paradise, il nuovo controller di gioco di Sony si mostra oggi sotto i riflettori ufficiali.

Il colosso nipponico ha finalmente ufficializzato l'avvento di un nuovo gamepad, Dual Shock 3, destinato a sostituire l'attuale Sixaxis, reintroducendo il cosiddetto "rumble" (vibrazione), funzionalità tanto cara agli utenti Playstation. L'avvicendamento avverrà in totale discrezione dal momento che i due pad, Sixaxis e Dual Shock 3, sono praticamente identici nella forma e differiscono di poco per quanto riguarda il peso.

Attraverso un comunicato stampa, Sony ha dichiarato che il nuovo controller verrà venduto in Giappone come accessorio a partire dal prossimo Novembre e che verrà commercializzato nel vecchio continente e in terra statunitense a partire dal 2008. Nessuna informazione è stata riservata all'inclusione del Dual Shock 3 nel pacchetto base o negli starter pack PS3, ma è facile pensare che la casa nipponica intenda disfarsi dei Sixaxis accumulati in magazzino piuttosto che procedere ad un pre-pensionamento del vecchio pad.

Si chiude quindi l'annosa telenovela della vibrazione, argomento che nei mesi passati ha acceso gli animi dei sostenitori del brand Playstation. Il rumble ha infatti accompagnato le console di casa Sony nel corso di quasi una generazione e mezza, per poi essere accantonato per 'motivi tecnici'. Se la rimozione della vibrazione era stata giustificata da Sony in modo farraginoso, sappiamo benissimo che l'assenza di tale funzionalità nel Sixaxis è invece da imputare alla diatriba legale con Immersion, società detentrice del brevetto e della tecnologia che per anni ha animato i Dual Shock. Ora la situazione sembra definitivamente chiarita e, come si dice in questi casi, tutto è bene quel che finisce bene.

Dual Shock 3 sarà supportato da tutti i futuri giochi e non solo: Sony promette infatti di rendere il controller con "rumble" retrocompatibile con i titoli rilasciati sino ad ora grazie ad aggiornamenti software.
